THE BOAT'S OUT OF THE WATER AND MIKE'S COMING HOME!
The crew continued to fish through Saturday of last week, but after two days of sets with 10 fish here and 30 fish there (the ultimate scratch fishing!), they decided to call it a season. They wrapped things up in Egegik and headed back to Naknek to pull the boat out of the water.
The short journey to Naknek wasn't without some excitement. There were 8-foot seas as they left Egegik, which was pretty intense. They arrived Sunday morning and were hauled out Monday.
They're getting greasy, cleaning the boat up and excited to be home soon. Mike arrives back in Homer on Friday!
This is probably the last update you'll be getting from us for awhile, as we'll be spending lots of family time together, and welcoming a new baby sometime around August 20th.
We'll be in touch as soon as we have a definite shipping date for your preordered salmon shares. If you ordered halibut, cod, or sablefish that was not added onto a salmon share, we'll send you a personal email within the next week about a delivery date in August.
Thank you for following our 2019 Bristol Bay sockeye salmon season. We hope you enjoyed learning more about your favorite fisherman and the world's largest sockeye salmon fishery.
